30 StuGs, nicknamed "Sturmi" were received in 1943,
and another 29 were bought in 1944.
They were used successfully in the defence of Finland against the Soviet invasion.
Suomi osti yhteensä 59 kpl StuG III -vaunuja Saksalta vuosina 1943 ja 1944.
Yhden vaunun hinta oli 165 000 valtakunnanmarkkaa
(kahden komentovaunun 168 000 RM), eli 3,2 miljoonaa Suomen markkaa.
Vaunut tuhosivat 87 vihollispanssaria omien tappioiden ollessa 8 vaunua.
29 vaunuista ehti jatkosodan taisteluihin. Koska varaosista oli puutetta, yksi vaunu purettiin osiksi. Loput 30 vaunua eivät ehtineet jatkosotaan.
